Periodontics

It is a specialty of dentistry that studies the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases, that is, those that are caused by the accumulation of bacterial plaque affecting both the gums and all the support tissue of the teeth.
The most common gum disease is gingivitis, which consists of inflammation of the gums resulting from the accumulation of bacterial plaque causing bleeding. Then there are diseases of an irreversible nature such as periodontitis, which in addition to having inflammation and bleeding, presents reabsorption of the bone surrounding the roots, losing sustenance or support bone, which in extreme cases the patient loses their teeth due to mobility.
Periodontitis should be treated immediately as the disease does not stop and the patient suffers the consequences of bad breath, mobility, and displacement of their teeth.
The treatment consists of a basic therapy, which manages to eliminate plaque and tartar both above and below the gums, and depending on the patient, you must perform different polishing (smoothing the root), to leave the surface clean, disinfected and free of bacteria.
